About

Loft 121 is a pop-up gallery founded by Sean Zhang and Lucy Liu in 2022 with the aim of curating unexpected exhibitions in alternative spaces for emerging and under-recognized
artists. We provide artists with a dynamic environment for artistic exploration, dialogue, and development, while incorporating a mission-based element for each show.

We believe in the importance of providing artists with a platform to tell their stories, experiment with their own practices, challenge conventions, and contribute to the ever-expanding narrative of art.

Sean Zhang graduated with his BA in Art History from University College London in 2021 and his MA in Visual Arts Administration from New York University in 2023. Specializing in sales and marketing, he has formerly held positions at Pace Gallery, David Zwirner, The Rubell Museum, Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery, as well as The Baer Faxt.

Lucy Liu graduated with her BA in Art History and Anthropology from Yale University in 2021 and her MA in Arts Administration from Columbia University in 2023. She currently works as a sales assistant at Rachel Uffner Gallery. Previously, she has held positions at the advisory Art Intelligence Global, David Zwirner, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Yale Art Gallery.
