Chang is a multidisciplinary artist who engages installation, performance, painting, and computer programming to explore nostalgia and intrafamilial dynamics. As the sole immigrant in her family, she focuses on disparities between US and Korea’s contemporary landscapes. Her work is often activated by automated material deterioration and bodily performances. In Chang’s painting practice, she often introduces performative elements by focusing on unconventional material reactions. Her latest series experiments with oil paint and trace monoprints on free-flowing silkscreen fabrics to explore the romanticization and gradual deterioration of nostalgia.
