Alice JiangBio  Works
Alice Jiang (b. 2003, China) is a BFA undergraduate student at New York University.

Born and raised in Beijing, Jiang received a largely Western education within international institutions, she often finds herself conflicted and grappling between intertwining cultural influences. Unsatisfied with the overlook of personal interests and the emphasis on uniformity in her culture, Jiang seeks resonance through her artistic practice. However, she often finds herself tracing back to Chinese traditions due to influences from her childhood and surrounding environment, unable to fully relate to either culture. The displacement of belongingness and struggle for self-identification fuels her curiosity to make images that can be literally and metaphorically viewed from a multitude of angles and perspectives. Living and studying in New York further inspires her to explore how she and many individuals perceive and navigate their interpersonal relationships, emotional division, entanglement, and liminality within and across communities.
